3 broadway stars
I just came back from a broadway production call Tick Tick Boom. http://www.curtainup.com/ticktickboom.html
We ( me and my wife) virtually rushed to the Victoria concert hall as we made a mistake in the venue but we got there in time fortunately.
This show is a 3 person show. 2 guys and a woman. It speaks about Jonathan Larson's life when he was at 30 years old. Jonathan Larson was the one who wrote the famous musical Rent. So this is a musical on him.
So so music, some laughs here and there and some nice singing sometimes. Definitely not for everyone. The crowd was so so because we were self transfered to the better seats when the show was going to start. We had 8 rows of empty seats in front of us !
Just like any other show. 2 hrs went past and me and my wife decided to go home. On the way out the booth selling the booklets to the show as well as th CD to the show was raring to tout people to buy one copy and on a vanilla guard sheet it wrote ' get autographs from the actors shortly after the show '
Well two observations were made. Firstly, the crowd didn't gather after the show ! People were just leaving ! Secondly, no one was buying the booklets and the CDs.
We cannot imagine how the autograph session will turn out. I stuck my face against the poster reading it .. on it it says ' the newest broadway HIT ! Tick Tick Boom ' I felt a little uncomfortable to see the dwindling crowd. I looked at my wife and ask whether we should get a booklet and ask them to sign. She was very very tempted but I held back the decision.
After a while the singers came out, sat down and no one. I am not sure how they felt but it was such a sorry sight that i felt hurt. Truly hurt because they have to sit there for 1-2 mins before the first person came up to them for a signature.
We left without doing anything. But we left with our hearts pinched. 3 Broadway singers... 2 hurt souls and 1 unforgettable memory.
